My work history

November 2023 to June 2025: Climate Resilience Senior Advisor at Ofgem

In this role I worked on developing methods to stress test the resilience of the energy grid to climate change, contributed to updates of Ofgem’s price control to support consideration of climate resilience, and progressed work to improve governance for climate resilience and wider resilience areas within Ofgem and across other relevant agencies.

August 2022 to November 2023: Senior Climate Change Consultant at SLR Consulting

In this role I supported companies to align with the recommendations of the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). I collaborated with clients to establish a TCFD working group and facilitate climate scenario analysis to explore the risks and opportunities which may manifest in a range of possible climate scenarios. I would then work with clients to develop options for building resilience to potential risks, and to make compliant public disclosures as part of their annual financial reporting.

March 2022 to June 2022: Private Secretary to the Minister of Climate Change and Associate Minister for the Environment

In this position I provided support, advice and options to the Minister. I facilitated communications, managed the day-to-day relationship between the Minister and the Ministry’s senior leadership, and provided the Ministry with information about the Minister’s context and priorities. This required an excellent understanding of the Ministry’s priorities and work programme, and the ability to provide high quality information and advice to the Minister and his staff, in a timely fashion. I built trusted relationships, identified risks and anticipated the Minister’s needs. I also maintained independence and objectivity as a politically neutral public servant, while understanding the political context and working alongside the Minister’s political staff.

June 2021 to March 2022: Senior Policy Analyst at the Ministry for the Environment

As a Senior Policy Analyst I coordinated support for governance groups overseeing New Zealand’s climate change work programme. This included a board made up of Chief Executives from relevant departments including the Ministries of Primary Industries, Foreign Affairs, Transport and the Treasury, and a climate response Ministerial group co-chaired by the Minister of Climate Change and the Prime Minister. Throughout this time I continued my involvement in staff groups promoting wellbeing and cultural competence, and began coaching junior staff members as a part of the Ministry’s professional development network.

December 2018 to May 2021: Policy Analyst at the Ministry for the Environment

As a Policy Analyst I wrote and did quality assurance for policy advice, including briefings, Cabinet Papers, Ministerials and Official Information Act requests. I worked in the Ministry for the Environment’s climate change directorate, spending two and a half years in the Emissions Trading Scheme team, but also taking several opportunities to work in other climate policy areas. I learned and applied a range of analytical frameworks, tools and approaches, and contributed to strategic conversations internally and externally on issues spanning the environment and economy. I played a key role in coordinating my team and teams from the Ministry for Primary Industries and the Forestry Service to support Select Committee consideration of a Bill to reform the New Zealand Emissions Trading Scheme.

January 2018 to December 2018: Parliamentary Officer (Jan-Nov) and Deputy Clerk (Nov-Dec) at the Office of the Clerk of the New Zealand House of Representatives

As a Parliamentary Officer I was part of a secretariat supporting the Education and Workforce and Economic Development, Science and Innovation Select Committees. I was responsible for organising committee meetings and providing excellent customer service to members of the public. In this role I had the opportunity to develop my writing skills by producing committee reports and briefing papers. As a Deputy Clerk, my role became more focused on writing reports and briefings, as well as providing procedural advice to Committee members.

February 2016 to September 2017: Front of House and Maitre D’ at Egmont St. Eatery

February 2015 to February 2016: Front of House at Coene’s Provisions

I spent two and a half years working as a waitress and supervisor in Wellington’s busy hospitality industry. My time spent in these roles developed my capacity to prioritize time sensitive tasks under pressure and grew my confidence and communication skills. I also had the opportunity to take on a management role, gaining experience with managing staff and an appreciation of how small to medium enterprises run.

Volunteer experience

2021 to 2022: Board member, Wellington Rowing Club

February 2014 to December 2014: Tourism Support Officer, Volunteer Service Abroad

September 2014 to December 2014: Volunteer Swim Coach, Malolo Swim Club

Personal interests

I began rowing eight years ago and I absolutely love it. As well as competing, I have been heavily involved in behind-the-scenes work – feeding crews, coordinating accommodation for camps, and as a board member working on the club’s high-level strategy. As part of London Rowing Club I had the privilege of being part of a high-performing squad and having the chance to compete at Henley Women’s Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta.

I am finishing up competitive rowing to allow time to focus on other pursuits, but I remain involved with my rowing club. I enjoy running, yoga and live music, and I recently took the opportunity of having a career break to spend a month seeing more of the UK by walking from the Lake District to Derby.
